[Social media script] Do you know what public money is?

This is a script for the TCU’s TikTok channel explaining to the audience the concept of public money, how it is collected, and what it should be used for.

Have you ever wondered what public money actually is?

How it lives, what it eats, where it sleeps?

See that chunk taken out of your paycheck every month?

Taxes.

That grocery run you do every week?

Taxes.

Even that morning coffee on the corner?

Guess what? Taxes too.

And what happens with all those taxes?

Do they turn into bananas?

Nope.

They turn into what we call public money.

Think of it like this: everyone in Brazil puts a little bit into one giant piggy bank.

When you add it all up, that’s the money government uses to keep the country running.

Public money pays for schools, hospitals, roads, research grants, vaccines, public safety, culture… a lot of stuff!

And that’s exactly why the Federal Court of Accounts of Brazil (TCU) exists: to make sure this money is well spent. That it’s going to the right places and that it’s making a real difference.

Public money is your money. And our job is to make sure it’s not wasted.

E esse monte de imposto vira o quê?

Vira banana?

Vira o que a gente chama de dinheiro público.

Pensa assim: é como se todo mundo no Brasil colocasse um pouquinho num cofrinho gigante.

Esse dinheiro, juntando de milhões de pessoas, vira o que o governo usa pra manter o país funcionando.

Dinheiro público paga escola, hospital, estrada, bolsa de pesquisa, vacina, segurança, cultura… muita coisa!

E é por isso que o TCU existe: pra acompanhar se esse dinheiro tá sendo bem usado. Se tá indo pro lugar certo. Se tá fazendo diferença de verdade.

Dinheiro público é o seu dinheiro. E o nosso papel é cuidar pra que ele não seja desperdiçado por aí.
