About the project
Launched in partnership with Brazil’s Ministry of Health, the Saúde com Agente Program (2022–2024) is the largest national training initiative for Community Health Agents (ACS) and Endemic Disease Control Agents (ACE) — there are more than 400,000 professionals present in all 5,570 cities. These workers are the backbone of the Brazilian public health system, responsible for disease prevention, health promotion, and connecting communities to public services.

Challenge
The challenge was to publicize the course nationwide, spark interest among ACS and ACE, and keep them active in a demanding one-year program. Communicating that it was free, high-quality, and beneficial not only to their careers but to the entire population was essential.

My role
As a member of the program’s communication committee, I was responsible for leading all strategies and initiatives to promote the course in every Brazilian city. Hosted on Conasems’ online learning platform, the course required tailored outreach to reach professionals nationwide. I also designed and implemented the retention strategies that kept students engaged and active throughout the one-year program, ensuring high completion and certification rates.

Results
The program enrolled 376,000 students in two cohorts. The first class filled all 196,000 available spots, and its success — driven by strong communication and nationwide outreach — created a waiting list of professionals. One year later, a second cohort was launched, enrolling 180,000 students across Brazil.
With an impressive 88% completion rate, the program has the potential to transform community health, leading to higher vaccination coverage, timely prenatal care, better control of chronic diseases, and stronger health guidance for millions of Brazilians.
